Hosting Services Expiration and Renewal

On this page, you will find information about what happens when hosting services by ICDSoft expire.

Expiration of hosting services

Each hosting service we offer has an expiration date. If it is not renewed, the service is subject to suspension after this due date.

In order to avoid downtime for your website, we would recommend that you always renew your hosting services prior to their expiration date. If any technical issues occur while your order is being processed, renewing might take up to 48 hours (in some cases). Renewing in advance will make sure that any such issues won't delay the renewal and lead to service suspension.

What happens when my domain name expires?

Different registries have different policies about domain expirations. In general, it is best to renew your domain name before its expiration date in order to avoid losing the registration and other technical difficulties.

Note that after a domain name expires, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to renew it for you.

For domain registrations that have expired, there are special considerations for some top-level domains (TLDs) that you should have in mind:

.COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .US, .CA - Such domain names are covered by Enom's registration agreement. Although there are no guarantees, these TLDs usually can be renewed after expiring. The grace period is about 40 days, after which the domain name may enter a redemption period. If you want to renew a domain name that has entered the redemption period, there will be a redemption fee in addition to the regular renewal fee. After that, the domain may enter a non-guaranteed reactivation period that lasts about a month. The domain name may be sold at auction or deleted from the registry after that, at the registrar's discretion. Once the domain registration expires, we have no control over this process. Note that these periods and their durations are subject to change by Enom as well.

.UK, .CO.UK - .UK domain names are active for 30 days after their expiration. You can renew your domain during that time. After that, they are suspended. If the domain name is not renewed, it will be deleted from the .UK registry 90 days after its expiration date, and it will become available for registration again at this point.

.DE - Expired .DE domain names are deleted from the registry at their exact expiration time. This means that after your .DE domain name expires, someone else may register it immediately. If this happens, you will lose the domain name. This is why we strongly recommend that you always renew your .DE domain names at least a week in advance. If you place a renewal order for a .DE domain name less than a week before the expiration date, it may be impossible for us to actually renew it.

.EU - When a .EU domain name expires, it is put in a 40-day "quarantine period" at EURid, which is equivalent to the redemption period for other TLDs. After this period is over, the domain name becomes available for registration again on a first-come, first-served basis.

.BG - In order to guarantee that we will be able to renew your domain name, you should renew it at least 20 days before it expires. After that, it may be transferred for management to the TLD registry (Register.BG). In that case, you would have to contact them about renewing it. There is a 30-day grace period after a .BG domain name expires in which you can renew it with Register.BG.

.HK - Such domain names are covered by HKDNR's registration agreement. When .HK domain names expire, they are put in a 60-day Blackout Period. During that period, it may be possible to renew the domain name. However, a late fee may be added to the regular renewal fee. After the Blackout Period, the domain name is deleted from the registry and becomes available for registration again.

What happens when my hosting service expires?

The following events occur at the end of the life cycle of a hosting account:

Expiration - When an account expires, it may still be active for some time (usually a day) before any services stop working. After that, the web service is suspended and the website is replaced by an expiration notice.

Suspension - When an account is suspended, the various hosting services attached to it are suspended, including email and access to the hosting Control Panel.

Removal - The account is removed from our servers. After this happens, we no longer keep the data and we cannot restore the website any longer. Hosting accounts are subject to removal from our servers 15 days after their expiration date.

The timing of these events depends on the hosting plan and billing cycle of your account.

What happens when my SSL certificate expires?

The validity of an SSL certificate ends on its expiration date. This means that if the certificate is not renewed on time, browsers will start to show warnings to your visitors that their connection is not secure.

You should have in mind that renewing an SSL certificate may take a few days to complete. If you do not want security warnings to be shown to visitors, you should renew your SSL certificates at least a week in advance.

What happens when my Advanced Services expire?

Advanced Services are additional services we perform for your website. When an advanced service you have subscribed for expires, it is discontinued. It can be enabled again at any time.
